Plants as energy for an energy company
Client: SPP CZ, a.s., Brno
The Brno offices of SPP CZ were created with the aim of offering employees an environment where they can work naturally well. Not only at their desks, but also during short breaks or informal meetings. The plants here add comfort and unprecedented playfulness.
Each office got its own small flowerbed. Designers from Premier Interiors designed built-in plant pots in the office furniture. They also designed a large six-meter flowerbed - a living wall - for the pleasure of the eyes of those waiting in the office entrance area. It was also necessary to improve and fill the space in the kitchen, where there is very little direct daylight. All challenges can be overcome and solutions can be found for everything. After an initial consultation with the client, we were faced with the following requirements:
- plants in the built-in furniture will not interfere with the opening space of the cabinets
- built-ins are limited to a height of 17 cm - that's too little (if we were invited already at the design stage of the furniture elements, we would recommend a minimum height of 25 cm for sustainable greenery of a required height of at least 40 cm)
- the living wall does not have a water supply, it must be designed so that the maintenance staff can water the entire wall manually - so it is necessary to choose a system that will meet this requirement
- the living wall should be a maximum of 17 cm deep due to the limited space of the entrance hall
- there should also be colorful plants (red, pink) in the office plantings and in the living wall
- the plants in the kitchen will only have an artificial source of lighting - so what is the selection of plants that can handle artificial lighting and will be happy?
- from our point of view, it was necessary to incorporate plants that the company already owned and had in the original offices into the planting, those that were not suitable for planting we bought and sent on to our plant bazaar
Our job was to have sheet metal inserts made for furniture sets, which is our preferred option for cooperation. We have our locksmith make the inserts to measure, we work with sheet metal, which guarantees infinite durability, 100% water resistance and recyclability. In this case, we had the inserts painted only in the base color, because they are not visible in the sets. Thanks to the color, we will further strengthen the water resistance and there will be no leakage of the grout and deterioration of the cabinets or their contents - and at a comparable price to plastic welded inserts.
We processed the order with the certainty that we would take care of the greenery on a weekly basis. We regularly manually operate the green wall, check it, and propagate plants from it for possible further use in other containers. With artificial lighting specially set for indoor plants, the wall grows and thrives very well.
Plants in the kitchen also thrive. We chose partially hanging species, but also those that are able to fill the space in width towards the lighting, so that the space under the ceiling is filled and a continuous strip of greenery is created, which can be observed when you stop for a moment in the hustle and bustle of work and rest.
When creating new spaces in the premium location of Tower Butique in Titanium Brno, we wanted to have beautiful furniture, but also to enliven the entire space with flowers. We contacted OASA studio (then Kvítka v bytě) and I must admit that it was a great choice. Their approach from planning to implementation was absolutely great. Our satisfaction is also illustrated by the fact that we turned to them again for the terrace solution. From our experience, we know that flowers are an important element in offices when designing spaces. They can enliven the entire space and bring a more pleasant atmosphere to it. Our experience with Oasa was great. It was already clear from the design that they approach it responsibly and constructively. The implementation itself went great and every day, when you are in the office, you are happy to look around you. The care they take for the flowers is visible.
